Crushing It / American Film Institute

A short film produced by the American Film Institute.

While this was my first role, I became one of the lead production assistants by the end of the film. I achieved this through my strong communication skills, which ranged from problem-solving to assisting the talent during production. One day, in particular, I went the extra mile when we were short on staff. I volunteered as a background character and collected resources for the wardrobe department, resulting in a smoother production.

I’m very fond of this project and proud of it because it kicked off my introduction to production and my first footstep into the film industry.

The film focuses on the story of Josh, a bodybuilder with a big heart and a crush on a librarian named Laura. Josh fights to develop the courage to confess to the woman, hindered by his outer appearance and the impression it gives to others. Josh may appear big, intimidating, and rough on the outside. However, in reality, he’s a shy, gentle giant who is looking for a little romance.

The goal of this film was to explore a love story that dissects the concept of first impressions and breaks stereotypes in a comedic but emotional manner.
